Let me tell you about my most recent vacation!

So my family tends to take vacations in the off-season. We don't like massive crowds or tons of children which is why it may surprise you to hear that we went on a Disney Cruise! Well, first we went to Ft Lauderdale and spent a couple days there before heading to Miami and hopping aboard the Disney Wonder. Well, let me tell you something. It was fantastic! We had a great time! Yes, there were tons of screaming children and honestly, the only time I found them extraordinarily annoying was when we were watching a movie. (Seriously, the movie started at 11pm. Shut up and go to bed! And the other one was a premiere and it almost felt like parents were ENCOURAGING their children to be as loud as possible.) However, that was only a couple hours of our 5 day cruise. The rest of it was pretty amazing.

Over the next couple of weeks, I will be posting reviews and tips for everything from planning to the plane ride to restaurants in Ft Lauderdale to our excursion. So stay tuned for all my posts and keep checking back for more!

Camera Tattoo

Hey guys! I got a new tattoo! It's pretty exciting. I really wanted a tattoo that meant something to me. After all, I have no idea why you would get a tattoo that didn't mean something to you. It's permanent! So here it is:

In case you're debating getting a tattoo in this location, it doesn't hurt too bad. I mean, it's a tattoo. They use a needle to get the color into your skin so it hurts a little, but it really doesn't hurt as bad as some other tattoo locations (for women, anyway. We have some extra cushion here).

DIY Bookmark by a toddler

This past Mother's Day, my son made an amazing gift for me! It's adorable and I get to see it every time I read a book. I love it! Plus, it's super easy.

Step 1: Pick out some pictures and arrange them in a word document. Print. Cut down to size.

Step 2: Have your child color on a piece of paper (we used a green piece of paper). Cut the paper down to the same size as your pictures. We then chose to write on it and have my son sign it, but this part is clearly optional.

Step 3: Cut a black piece of paper a little larger than your other two pieces of paper. Now glue your colored paper and pictures on opposite sides of the black paper.

Step 4: Use clear tape (like packing tape) to cover your bookmark. We used two pieces to accommodate how wide it was. You can barely see the seam. This basically laminates the bookmark to make it more durable.

Step 5: Use a hole punch to make a hole in the top. Use a piece of yarn to make a tail at the top. We used yarn that was the same color as the piece of paper my son colored.
This is our finished project:

I think it turned out pretty cool!

Brownie Waffles

Have you guys seen (on Pinterest) how you can make almost anything in a waffle iron? Last week, I made a grilled cheese in the waffle iron! Well, today, I have brownies for you. I made the decision to just use boxed brownie mix.

Then you just put the mix in like you would waffle mix. Make sure that you thoroughly coat your waffle iron in nonstick spray though. Otherwise, it's nearly impossible to get the brownie off.

Just a little tip: The brownie will be very soft when you try to get it out of the waffle iron. This does make it a little difficult. However, it will stiffen up while it cools down.

Now top your brownie waffle with some ice cream, a little chocolate drizzle, and a few sprinkles and you've got yourself a cute, fast, easy, and delicious dessert!

Crocheted Basket

Hey guys! I just finished a project that I really want to share with you! It's a basket. And I made it myself...out of yarn! You may be thinking, "If it's made out of yarn, how is it sturdy?" I thought the same thing. But then I watched the tutorial and it said to use 2 pieces of yarn at one time. The yarn is doubled! This really does make it a lot sturdier than if you only used one. I can tell my basket isn't going to fall apart anytime soon.

I got the tutorial from youtube. The woman's channel is called bobwilson123. I've seen a couple of her tutorials and they are very clear and easy to understand. You can find part 1 for this basket here and part 2 here.

Here are some pictures of my process. I hope you enjoy! and let me know how you did!

My new clutch

It took about 18 days to get here. And if you're anything like me, it will drive you crazy that tracking things coming from overseas are just ridiculous to track. However, the product is absolutely adorable! And completely affordable!! How does it get any better than that??

If you would also like to purchase your adorable and affordable clutch/iPhone 5 case, you can get yours here for under $5!

How I Made My Son's Birthday Special

Two days ago, my big boy turned 4. I had agreed to help my sister out by watching her 6-month-old baby while her usual day care (her mother-in-law) was out of town for 3 weeks. Well, I had to bring my son with me since I'm a stay-at-home mom. And his birthday fell on a Monday so we were at my sister's house for the special day. I tried to make it as extraordinary as I could.

I started by making a special birthday breakfast of funfetti pancakes with a candle on top. They were seriously delicious.

We then had a special FaceTime session with Daddy. He had to stay at home so that he could go to his job. Lucky for us, he didn't work until late in the day so Owen and Daddy could spend a little time with each other virtually for his birthday. They even watched cartoons together.

For lunch, we went to Chuck E Cheese where we met my sister. We ate some pizza and Owen played games. We only stayed for about an hour (because there were so many kids there for spring break and really, that's all I can handle).

After the little guy (my nephew) took a nap, we made our way to the mall so that Owen could play in the play area. We spent about 45 minutes there.

Then, for dinner, we had what the new 4-year-old wanted. He wanted corn and broccoli. We also had some other things, but the corn and broccoli are specifically what he ordered. My other sister came over so it was like a mini party.

Then, he opened up a birthday gift that my husband and I had gotten him. It was a movie (Despicable Me 2) and a minion toy to go with it. He also had a gift from a family friend that he was able to open.

We then had some leftover birthday cake from his party on Saturday.

After that, Owen watched his movie on my laptop.

He finished off the day with a call from his dad to say Happy Birthday and good night.

I think my son was happy with how the day turned out and so was I. I didn't want my son to feel like he wasn't important. And that easily could have happened since he's a pretty independent child and I was taking care of a baby. With a little effort on my part, my little man had one great birthday.

My Son's Birthday!

Today is my son's birthday! He is now 4. If you look at my posts, most of them probably say something about 'my 3-year-old son'. That's because my world revolves around him and everything he does. One of the great things about being a stay-at-home mom is that I get to spend every waking moment with him. Sometimes he gets on my nerves or we don't get along, but what mother-son relationship isn't like that every now and then. For the most part though, he is my little ray of sunshine. His smile lights up a room. I love that kid. Here's a look back at the best 4 years of my life thus far.
